This is the registration site for 2022 High Holiday Services with Dennis Prager. Services are non-denominational and people of every background are welcome.
This year Rosh Hashanah is September 25-26 and Yom Kippur is October 4-5.
Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services will be held in the San Fernando Valley.
Dennis will be leading four services:
1. The first evening of Rosh Hashanah (Sunday, September 25)
2. The first day of Rosh Hashanah (Monday, September 26)
3. The eve of Yom Kippur — Kol Nidre (Tuesday night, October 4)
4. The day of Yom Kippur (Wednesday all day, October 5).
(Please note: We sometimes receive requests to purchase tickets for only the evening or only the day service for one or the other holiday. We regret that we are unable to accommodate such requests because we are obligated to pay the expenses for both the evening and day service. Thank you for your understanding.)
The service times are as follows:
Rosh Hashanah evening service: 7:30 PM – 10:00 PM
Rosh Hashanah morning service: 10:00 AM – 1:30 PM
(Please note: There will be no services on the second evening and second day of Rosh Hashanah.)
Yom Kippur Kol Nidre service: 7:30 PM – 10:00 PM (but note that sunset is at 6::33 PM and the traditional fast begins at 6:17 PM).
Yom Kippur morning/day service: 11:30 AM – 6:32 PM (the traditional fast ends at 7:15 PM)
Those of you who have been with us in the past know that Dennis remains at services all day on Yom Kippur. In the afternoon during the two-hour break, he is available to talk with you and answer questions about God, faith, religion, Judaism, life – anything except politics. (Dennis's statement on this: "I feel strongly that the High Holy Days not be used as a forum for political advocacy.")
Once you have purchased tickets, you will receive details such as the address of the venue for the services, the times, and other information. (By the way, I recommend you not use the "Add this event to your calendar" option on this site. The High Holidays is an odd configuration of dates for sites like this. They don't have a way for us to specify an event that takes place over four days within a span of ten days, so it will enter it as a single event spanning the entire ticket-sales period of two months. Better to use Google Jewish holidays or some other program, or manually add the dates to your calendar.)
The prices are as follows (prices include valet parking service & tip - no money will be required from you upon arrival or departure for parking):
$275 per person for Rosh Hashanah only
$275 per person for Yom Kippur only
$400 per person for both Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur
Half the above prices for the first minor child accompanied by an adult;
All additional children under 18 accompanied by an adult are free (this is to encourage people to bring their children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, neighbor’s kids).
$150 flat rate for college students (whether they come for one or all four services).
Please note: Because the venue parking is limited, we have contracted with a valet parking service, which, as noted above, is included in the price of the tickets.
For those who prefer not to drive on the holiday, we're sorry but there is not an on-site hotel, nor is there one within easy walking distance. However, there are hotels in the area. The two closest are Hampton Inn & Suites (.7 mile away) and Best Western Plus Carriage Inn (.8 mile). There are a variety of additional options for lodging in the area at varying distances and price points.
It is our goal that these services will be among the most meaningful of your life. Dennis will be explaining or commenting on almost all prayers and speaking about God, life, and our personal situations. Cantor Michael Freed, along with a small choir and instrumental accompaniment, will lead us in song and prayer.
