Ladies First is an annual brunch-fundraiser created to build awareness and support for women of color that have been directly or indirectly affected by breast cancer. Due to COVID-19, we've turned Ladies First into an engaging live-stream telethon featuring doctor-led power talks, fashion + fitness, a cooking demo, and more to raise $10,000 for our Stay Safe initiative.
With all the recent events, it's easy to overlook the current state of cancer in our community. Right now, cancer patients are more at risk of being exposed to COVID-19 due to a number of underlying pre-existing conditions but are still required to go to their chemotherapy appointments, exposing them to outdoor conditions and even worse, hospitals. Most continue to suffer due to job loss, limited income from inability to work, and difficulty providing meals for their families.
Our goal is to provide a safety program that will provide living stipends; a safety care package with protective essentials such as gloves, disinfectants, face masks, as well as private transport, to any in need, as means of reducing exposure to public transportation.
This event is free and open to the public, we are simply asking for any donation (no matter the amount) to help support our goal to provide support for our sisters in need.
