THE CONFERENCE

The Energy Storage Global Conference (ESGC) offers a unique opportunity to industry, researchers and policymakers to exchange views on key issues faced by the energy storage sector.

Representatives from around the world gathered for three days in Brussels, at Hotel Le Plaza, on 11 - 13 October 2022, to discuss regulatory and policy frameworks, the future storage market, and the latest developments in energy storage technologies.

Through three main topics, ESGC 2022 explored the extent at which energy storage can help avoid dependency on fossil fuels and help balance the electricity system.

Built on the foundations of four successful conferences organised since 2014, the three-day event, organised by the European Association for Storage of Energy (EASE), in collaboration with the European Commission's Joint Research Centre, gathered over 365 top-level energy storage professionals, researchers, exhibitors, speakers, and policymakers, onsite and online.

THE PROGRAMME

INTERNATIONAL PARTNERS

		AEPIBAL is a Business Association that arises from the interest of the Spanish industry to actively promote the energy storage sector. Our goal is to encourage the development of the three main pillars of the battery storage market: utility scale, industrial and residential. We want to boost commercial initiatives among our associates and with other platforms or associations to make companies more competitive, both in the Spanish and international markets.

		The Association for Energy Storage AKU-BAT CZ brings together the most important actors active in the field of energy storage in the Czech Republic. The Association’s members are multinational energy companies, international and domestic battery manufacturers, prestigious banks, industrial companies, universities and research institutions, law and consulting companies and others. The main goal of AKU-BAT is to promote favourable conditions for the development of all types of energy storage and creation of interesting investment opportunities for its members. AKU-BAT combines energy storage with e-mobility, renewable resources, industry and other areas.
		The Association for production, storage and trading of electricity (APSTE) is a non-profit organisation that supports the development and market integration of renewable energy and energy storage technologies in Bulgaria. Members of APSTE span the entire value chain of production, storage and trading of electricity from renewable energy sources, from R&D and manufacturing of power electronics and energy conversion technologies, to project development and engineering, legal, and financial consulting.
		ASEALEN is the Spanish Energy Storage Association, a non-profit association of companies involved in energy storage with all available technologies, aimed at accelerating the decarbonisation of the electricity sector and in thermal uses. Our current challenge is to push the adaptation of Spanish and European energy policy for storage.
		The Batteries European Partnership Association (BEPA) is the international non-profit making association (AISBL) representing the private-side of the BATT4EU Partnership. It gathers the European battery community willing to contribute to the ambitious upcoming Research & Innovation Batteries Partnership under Horizon Europe.
		Energy Storage Ireland (ESI) is a representative organisation for the energy storage industry in Ireland and Northern Ireland. ESI represents over 45 companies from across the energy storage supply chain. ESI works to promote the benefits of energy storage and engages with policymakers to support and facilitate the development of energy storage on the island of Ireland.
		EnergyIN, the Competitiveness and Technology Cluster for Energy, is a non-profit cluster association established in 2008, working for the energy sector in Portugal, namely on renewable energies, energy efficiency, energy storage, fuel cells and hydrogen. Its mission is to promote the collaborative works between companies, namely small and medium size, and research institutions, in order to foster technological innovation and competitiveness.
		FEDARENE is the collective voice on the energy transition for regions and regional energy agencies. Through ambitious projects and facilitation services, FEDARENE's members drive the energy transition and climate action in their territories, influencing and translating policies into action on the ground. With 850+ experts across 25 EU countries, we get one step closer every day to climate neutrality.
		IESA was launched by CES in 2012 to accelerate the market development for Energy Storage technologies in India, through an active dialogue among the various stakeholders. Over the past 6 years, IESA has worked diligently with policy markets, industry stakeholders and consumers to create awareness of energy storage technologies for transforming India's electric grid in the upcoming decades. Today, IESA has become the leading body to address the need for a robust energy storage ecosystem in the country. It has a set mission to make India a global hub for research and manufacturing of advanced energy storage technologies by 2022.
		The LDES Council is a global, executive-led, non-profit membership organisation, comprising technology providers, equipment providers, renewable energy companies, utilities, grid operators, investors, and end-consumers. It strives to accelerate decarbonisation of the energy system at lowest cost to society by driving innovation, commercialisation and deployment of long duration energy storage. The LDES Council provides fact-based guidance and information to governments, industry and broader society, drawing from the experience of its members which include leading energy companies, technology providers, investors and end-users.

The European Association for Storage of Energy (EASE) located in Brussels, Belgium, is the leading member-supported association that represents organisations active across the entire energy storage value chain. EASE supports the deployment of energy storage to support the cost-effective transition to a resilient, climate-neutral and secure energy system.
