2020 Virtual Lung Cancer Voices Summit

Raise your voice at our new virtual advocacy event!

During this unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, we are transforming our annual Advocacy Summit into a free, live virtual event— Virtual Lung Cancer Voices Summit. 

Join other lung cancer patients, caregivers, and advocates to learn about the current state of lung cancer and educate Members of Congress about the urgent needs of the lung cancer community. This event will empower and inspire you to make a positive difference for the millions of people living with and at risk for the disease. 

How to participate

All participants will have access to interactive webinars (live and recorded), an online Advocacy Action Toolkit, and scheduled Virtual Congressional Meetings. Please note that participation in meetings with Members of Congress requires free registration by June 5. Click here to register.

Monday, June 15: Day of Networking, Education and Training

11:00 - 11:25am ET / 8:00am - 8:25am PT: Networking Sessions

**You will be able to register for the below networking sessions starting Wednesday, June 10^th at 11:00am ET, 8:00am PT.

• Coffee with our co-founders Bonnie Addario and Laurie Fenton - opportunity to learn about GO2 strategic priorities and ask questions of our leadership.  
• Summit First Timers - opportunity to meet seasoned advocates, ask questions and get tips about the summit experience. 
• Advocating for a Loved One with Lung Cancer – share experiences among those that are advocating on behalf of loved ones.  
• Lung Cancer Survivors – engage with fellow survivors from across the country and how to share powerful stories to drive change.
• Advocating for Someone You Lost to Lung Cancer – share experiences among those advocating on behalf of lost loved ones.
• General Advocate Discussion - opportunity to meet and mingle with fellow advocates from across the country.

12:05pm ET / 9:05am PT: Patient Keynote Address 

12:15pm ET / 9:15am PT:  Lung Cancer Living Room: Silver Linings Around the State of Lung Cancer Today and Impact amid COVID-19. Participate in an interactive live-streamed event with expert panelists. 

1:30 - 2:00pm ET / 10:30 - 11:00am PT:  Program Break

2:00 - 3:00pm ET / 11:00am - 12:00pm PT: Advocacy Training - participate in interactive training to prepare you for calls with your legislators the next day. Training will help you learn how to relay the facts, tell your story, address key talking points, and make our “ask” for increased research funding during your calls.

3:30 - 3:55pm ET / 12:30 - 12:55pm PT: Networking Sessions (same as above)

4:00 - 4:25pm ET / 1:00 - 1:25pm PT: Networking sessions (same as above)

Tuesday, June 16: Day of Action

10:00am ET / 7:00am PT: Online Advocacy Action (on your own). Access our Advocacy Action Toolkit to add your voice to the movement through pre-written social media posts, dedicated hashtags, customizable letters to legislators, and template letters to your local newspapers. 

11:50am ET / 8:50am PT: Welcome to Day Two! Check in with your State Team Leaders for any last minute questions or assistance. 

12:00 - 4:00pm ET / 9:00am - 1:00pm PT: Congressional Calls with schedules found at the Prime Advocacy Voter Voice Portal.

As a registered attendee, you will have Virtual Congressional meetings scheduled with your Members of Congress.  An easy-to-use platform will provide you with call schedules and access to additional, helpful information. Your participation in these calls is an easy and impactful way to advocate for increased funding for lung cancer research by interacting directly with legislators. 

4:30 - 5:00pm ET / 1:30 - 2:00pm PT: Closing Remarks & Acknowledgements
