Performance, Clinicians, New Workshops, and Mass Recital!
The ACSI Choral Festival is not a competition; each group is evaluated against a standard of excellence and not in comparison to other groups. Awards are not emphasized, but recognition is given in the form of certificates with rating information and in invitations to perform in the final concert of the day.
Students will have the opportunity to showcase their musical abilities through performances of both original compositions and beloved classics, carefully prepared in advance. Guided by experienced section leaders, young musicians engage in rehearsal experiences where they refine their skills and deepen their understanding of their role within the larger musical group.
Each attendee emerges from the festival as a more proficient musician, a more confident leader, and with a deeper appreciation of the gift of music.
Selections found on an approved state festival list are acceptable for all grade levels but must be suitable for a Christian school event. Pieces not on a state-approved list should meet festival guidelines. The warm-up piece is the director's choice, but the adjudicated pieces should be in contrasting styles either sacred or contemporary. Foreign language or acapella pieces are encouraged, but only one of each.
- Each choir must perform one (1) piece as warm-up only and not for adjudication and must perform two (2) pieces for adjudication.
- Each large ensemble must perform one (1) piece as warm-up only and not for adjudication and must perform one (1) piece for adjudication.
- Each solo or ensemble will perform one (1) piece for adjudication. Each piece must be memorized.
