The Black Women Writers Virtual Summit is a platform for Black women writers worldwide to teach, learn, and develop writing, editing, and publishing skills together. While last year’s theme was Empowering Black Women Writers, we want to give attendees a more hands-on experience. This year’s theme, I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings: Writing A Story For The Black Gaze, has a very clear goal of assisting with the art of storytelling, the actual practice of writing, genre mastery, and utilization of literal and figurative language as griots passing along narratives to primarily Black audiences. The summit will take place April 16-18, 2021.
